About Art for a change

Welcome! My name is Mukki Gill and I am a 21 year old from the Bay Area. When I was 8 years old, I was lucky enough to visit my ancestral village with my family. My grandfather, Baji, explained to me that he has invested a majority of his life earnings into this school because schools like these are the reason he was able to get an education. Staring at the half broken buildings, with students sitting on the dirt floors, and the absence of bathrooms, I looked at Baji and asked how can I help them. He sighed and said there wasn’t much a child could do. I could not accept that response. When we came back home, I started a recycling drive, going every weekend to trade in my cans and bottles for pennies each that I sent to the school building funds. And that is when my journey of activism began. In December 2016, my family and I took a vacation to Bali. As a family that values art, we were all blown away by endless talent on display around the towns. What bothered me though was that these incredibly talented artists were living in poor conditions with incomes dependent on unreliable tourism. That is when it clicked. Then I decided that I would buy their paintings and bring them back home to sell. All of profits go straight to the school that Baji works with. This systems allows us to help the artistic community in Bali and help fund educations for poverty-stricken children in India.

The artist we work with is very flexible and loves doing custom art pieces. Currently all of the art in the gallery are for sale but are just examples of what the artist can do. If you want any painting done, fill out the form on the custom art page and we will get it done for you!

Here are some photos of the school:
